WiSNAM as pioneer of the Smart Farm Project for a digitized fertile-irrigation management
The Smart Farm project, developed by WiSNAM team of experts and funded by the Regional Funds of the Rural Development Program, aims to innovate agricultural production processes through environmental monitoring systems, the automation of irrigation systems, the digitalization of the entire corporate organization as well as the promotion of products and territories through innovative Internet based services.
The technological achievements of the Smart Farm project lie in the introduction into the production processes of high-tech innovations and best-in-class technology-systems that combine hardware and software components into a unique integrated platform.
A significant project’s result is the implementation of an advanced system for detecting environmental conditions through sensor networks and its integration with a digitized fertile-irrigation management. Therefore, the main advantage of such complex system is the capability to optimise the resources needed as well as the capability to promptly anticipate production loss due to adverse climatic conditions. Thus, the data collected are accurately processed and analysed in order to better operate the irrigation system and optimize the supply of water resources in order to avoid waste, reduce costs and maximize production.
Last but not least, the adoption of products’ tracking system through RFID labels aims to increase companies’ competitive advantages thanks to the application of such technology to larger production chains.
